Service dog training · New York City

Service dogs, trained for New York.

Your dog learns on real subway platforms, in packed elevators and on loud sidewalks, so the skills are ready when you need them.

How we train

Four stops to public access.

Every team follows the same line. How fast you ride it depends on your dog and your needs.

1

Foundation

Name response, loose-leash walking and settling, built first in your own apartment.

Weeks 1–4
2

Task training

Retrieving, door opening, deep pressure, alerting or guiding, matched to your disability.

Weeks 5–12
3

City work

Subways, buses, crosswalks, busy stores and elevators, at rush hour and at quiet hours.

Weeks 13–20
4

Public access

Test preparation and handler coaching, because the dog is only half of the team.

Weeks 21+

If it works here, it works anywhere.

New York is the hardest classroom there is. We use it on purpose.

Sidewalks and stores

Strollers, scooters, strangers who want to pet.

Lifts

Elevators and lobbies

Small spaces, slick floors, and doormen.

Noise

Sirens and street work

Calm, focused behavior with the city turned up.

About

A trainer who knows the A train.

I’ve trained dogs in New York for over a decade. I know what a service dog faces here: a packed car, a narrow vestibule, a stranger reaching for the vest.

I use positive, reward-based methods, and I’ll tell you early if your dog isn’t suited to this work.
